The Osiris Trio was formed in 1988. Since then, the trio has been performing in the Netherlands, along with regularly touring the United States, England, Belgium, Estonia, South America and Canada. During the past 17 years, the group has won a number of Dutch awards, including the 'Philip Morris Finest Selection' award and the Annie Bosboom Prijs.
The trio's discography includes three highly regarded CDs. The latest, Messiaens Quatuor pour la fin du temps with Harmen de Boer, earned the highest rating (10 out of 10) in the Dutch music magazine Luister. The Dutch daily national newspaper Het Parool concluded its review of the recording of Dutch piano trios by stating "premium international quality."
Diversity typifies the group's repertoire, which ranges from Haydn's piano trio oeuvre to works by contemporary composers. The Dutch Theatrical Managers' Society's Classical Music Jury recently nominated the Osiris Trio in the category "most impressive performance by (small) ensemble/chamber music ensemble."
A line-up change will accompany the start of the 2006-07 season. Violinist Vesko Eschkenazy (1970, Sofia, Bulgaria), who has been a section group leader in the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra since 2000, will replace Peter Brunt as the Osiris Trio's violinist.
During the Osiris Trio's 2005-06 concert season, Peter Brunt or Vera Beths will fill in for Vesko Eschkenazy on several occasions due to prior commitments on Mr Eschkenazy's part.
The trio is scheduled to perform in October 2005 in Birmingham and Stratford upon Avon. In November 2005, the trio will tour the United States, with performances in Washington, Hawaii and Michigan. Another US tour will follow in March 2006. The new programme includes pieces by Smetana, Martin?, Dvo?ak, Bloch, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky.
